My paintings are abstractions of the spirit
"Drawing the invisible"
The paintings I create are a little different from so-called realistic or landscape paintings. What I create is not a shape or an object, but something invisible to the eye, something like a "spirit" or soul.
All of my works are titled "Soul of...". I started painting with the theme of soul after a visitor at a solo exhibition told me, "All of your paintings look like faces." I had been creating abstract works up until then, but I hadn't found a theme that really suited me, and I was feeling like I was groping in the dark. Then, that comment was thrown at me, and it opened my eyes to a perspective I hadn't even realized.
"Abstract Expression as a Method of Expression"
Some people might find the term "abstract painting" a little difficult. But to me, "abstract" is not a complicated concept, but a very simple way of expression. The soul is invisible. So you can paint it in any shape and any color. There is no right answer. Not having a right answer means there is a lot of freedom. You can paint freely, and that is the greatest appeal of painting abstract paintings.
"Infinite Themes"
In addition, Japan has long had a belief in the eight million gods. This is a unique Japanese spiritual culture, where it is believed that everything has a soul. If we take the theme of souls, then it means that they exist infinitely.
From an infinite number of themes, I choose what I want to draw (my soul = spirit) in the shapes and colors I like. I want to enjoy experimenting with shapes and colors. I would be very happy if you could feel that joy when you look at my paintings.
In addition, the work has attributes and words that serve as characters (concepts) for the work.
If you have the opportunity to see the work, I think you will enjoy it even more if you also take a look at the captions.

[Artist Profile]
Based on the concept that everything has a soul, I create abstract acrylic paintings themed around various souls (such as the eight million gods). I am active in solo exhibitions and on Instagram.
