アーティストインタビュー【ai iwasaki】 - FROM ARTIST

Artist interview [ai iwasaki]

Today, we spoke to the artist " ai iwasaki " who is currently very active at FROM ARTIST.

Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule for this interview!

I heard that ai iwasaki often won awards at competitions when he was a student.

When did you first become interested in art?

I've loved drawing since I was little, and I would scribble everywhere and get scolded. (lol)

Did you get scolded for graffiti? It's so cute...I guess what I liked when I was little is connected to what I do now.

ai iwasaki, you say that drawing is a place to express your emotions , but when do you often feel like drawing?

When we feel joy, anger, sadness, or complex emotions that cannot be explained in words, we feel the need to express them from within our bodies. I happen to like drawing, and I thought that this would be a good way to express my emotions. I've lived like that ever since.

I think it takes a lot of courage to give form to what's inside you. It is very nice.

Please tell us about your current work style and how you arrived at it.

No, I don't think I have established my own style yet. Right now, I'm still drawing the pictures I want to draw based on my emotions at the time.

Are there any paintings or works of art that you have seen that have influenced you or that you respect?

I think I have been inspired by various paintings and works of art, and since I was young I have admired the splendor of the color use of Impressionists such as Claude Monet and Renoir. I am also very attracted to the paintings of Chihiro Iwasaki, Atsuko Sato, Komako Sakai, and the singer Cocco.

I love Chihiro Wasaki too! There is an art museum by Chihiro Iwasaki in Nagano Prefecture, where I live, so please come and visit it.

Comparing yourself before and now, have you changed anything in your attitude or state of mind towards creating works?

Personally, I don't think anything has changed in particular, but I think I've become able to look at my work from a broader perspective than before.

Do you have any particular preferences when creating?

By immersing myself in my own world in a silent, empty space, I am finally able to get into production mode.

Do you have a favorite color? Please tell me the reason!

I love rainbow colors, especially red.

This is the first time I've met someone who answered rainbow-colored. ai iwasaki's personality really shines through.

Are there any expressions or themes you would like to try in the future?

Currently, I am painting landscapes and still lifes in oil, but I hope to be able to paint portraits in the future.

Do you have any interests or hobbies other than art?

Maybe playing the piano, reading, watching sports, etc.

Please tell us your motto.

Deep in love.

Thank you for taking the time to answer the interview.

FROM ARTIST is looking forward to seeing ai iwasaki 's works in the future.
