Yamagata / Yamagata Museum of Art

It opened in 1964 with the philosophy of being ``an art museum for a wider range of prefectural residents than public art museums.''

An annex was opened in 1968, and today it is a large-scale art museum with a total floor area of 6,400 m² and eight exhibition rooms (2,100 m²).

The collection focuses on Japanese and Oriental art, local art, and French art. You can spend a luxurious and fulfilling time admiring famous painters Picasso, Monet, and Van Gogh.

In addition, special exhibitions display excellent works on various themes, making the contents of the projects interesting. Among past exhibitions, the ``Hiroshi Masumura Exhibition'' featured impressive works and was highly praised by word of mouth. I'm looking forward to future exhibitions!

The collection is centered around Japanese and Oriental antiquities, but it also houses approximately 3,000 works in a wide range of genres, from antiquities to contemporary art.

The approximately 200-year-old building is tasteful and has a beautiful scenery that blends in with the greenery of the garden.
