・What is oil painting ? As the name suggests, oil painting is art that uses oil paint.
Pigments that are insoluble in water and oil are dissolved in drying oil, which is an oil that dries easily and hardens quickly.
The paint is applied to a canvas (linen cloth pasted to a wooden frame) and the painting is done.
The characteristics of oil painting are that it is a photo-realistic painting with a sense of transparency,
The range of expression is very wide, including paintings that take advantage of the profound feeling created by applying layers of paint.
Moreover, the vividness and depth of the colors greatly reflect the artist's sensibilities and create a wide variety of works.
In addition, one of its strengths is that it has excellent durability among various types of art, and even works that have been hundreds of years old can be viewed in almost the same condition as they were originally.
