毎日を過ごしていると、私たちはたくさんの出来事や情報に出会います。けれど、それらは後から振り返ると、きれいに順番通り並んでいるわけではありません。ふと思い出す顔があったり、強烈に残っている色や光があったり、自分でも理由のわからないものがごちゃごちゃに混ざり合ったまま、心の中に残っていたりします。 それらを「これはこういう意味です」と一つのわかりやすい話にまとめてしまうと、そこからはみ出てしまう大事なカケラがたくさんあります。きれいに整理して見やすくするよりも、溢れてきた色や線を消さずに、そのまま画面の上に重ねていく必要がありました。 本来はまったく関係のない絵や、ひとつひとつでは意味を持たない断片同士が重なり合うことで、そこには単体では生まれ得なかった新しい関係や、まったく別の物語が動き出します。綺麗に揃えられた正解をなぞるのではなく、こうした不揃いな出合いや干渉から立ち上がるものを見つめること。それが、この作品の底にある視線です。
