〈どこか異世界を感じさせ過去の遺物の様に建つこの空間は、今現在も確かに存在している。もう崩れてしまった屋根は、日の光を拒絶することなく床まで温め輝かせる。740年余りの時を過ごしたこの修道院は、美しくもあり、また時間が散りゆくはかなさが見えてくる。〉 ふと見たこの異世界の建物に、とても興味を覚えました。古いのにこの美しさは何？きれいな色がついているわけではないのに何かひきつけられる。描かずにはいられない魅力を感じました。まずこの絵を描くにあたって気をつけたことが明暗です。光と影。影は光がいろんな方向から飛んでいる空間での影。その違いを意識して描くことでした。直線を筆で描くことはさほど難しくはないのですが、集中力が必要でした。建物の汚れ具合は早い段階で入れてあります。古い時代に作られたものですが、今の時代も存在している感を出すためにも、さわやかな空と赤い花を入れました。欠けている部分をいろんな方向の資料を見て昔と今の状態を確認しながらの作業でした。疑問を納得に変えていきました。筆を進めて行くと、そこに建物が徐々に現れてきます。丸みや凹凸を筆先で感じます。これは、絵を描いているといるといつも感じる楽しさです。 　この作品は、外枠にはバーチ材を使用しているので、額装なしでもそのまま美しく飾ることが出来ます。反りや湿度に強い強固なMDF板に描かれています。極端に湿度の高い所はお避け下さい。厚さ22mm。油絵用の額に入れる予定の方は購入時にその旨一言そえてくだされば、裏の金具をお取りした状態でお届けいたします。
