まだ、戦争は始まっていない。 街には道路があり、標識があり、人がいて、空には飛行機が飛んでいる。 一見すれば、どこにでもある都市の日常の風景だ。 しかし、その日常には、何かが欠けている。 頭上を横切る巨大な飛行機。 遠くで赤く燃えるような空。 複雑に交差する道路と、行き先を示す無数の標識。 それらはまだ明確な「戦争」ではない。 けれど、日常の風景の中に、ほんのわずかな異変が混じり始めている。 人は、戦争が始まった瞬間に初めて戦争を知るのではないのかもしれない。 空気が変わる。 街の色が変わる。 昨日まで当たり前だったものが、突然違う意味を持ち始める。 この作品で描きたかったのは、戦争そのものではなく、戦争が始まる直前にある、説明のつかない不安である。 何かが起こる。 そのことだけを、まだ誰も知らない。 ただ、一人の人間だけが、その気配を感じながら道路を歩いている。
