一緒に過ごした猫の気配を、布と糸で残しました。写真に写る姿をそのままなぞるのではなく、記憶の中に残っているその猫らしさを、一枚ずつ布に置いています。 白い布に重ねられた濃紺の布、揃いすぎない輪郭、そして「重なる縫いしろ」。重ね合わせた布の重なり（縫いしろ）や残された針目は、単に毛柄を正確に写すためではなく、その猫と一緒に過ごした時間の重なりや気配を残すために選んだものです。 顔や身体を細部まで描き込まなくても、布が重なり合う境目や手縫いのずれによって、その猫にしかない表情や佇まいが見えてきます。記憶の中では、姿のすべてが同じ鮮明さで残るわけではありません。はっきり覚えている部分もあれば、輪郭を失いながら消えずに残る部分もあります。その濃淡をあえて整えず、幾重にも折り重なる「縫いしろ」と針目に置き換えたのが、この作品です。
