作品の説明：

10代の後半だった。初夏だった。入江を臨む傾斜地でぼんやりしていた。その時、十数羽の椋鳥が東から西へと奇声を発し地面をつつきながらとおりすぎていった。その様子を見て脳裏に(デルマデルコックス!)という言葉が響いた。理由も無く突然に。その日以来私は椋鳥のことをデルマデルコックスと呼ぶようになった。デルマデルコックスには宇宙的鳥人類の歴史的気配があった。また、彼等の一部は地球を偵察する為、椋鳥に変身した精巧なロボットのように感じたりした。今ではその手の幻想は無くなったが、今でも私の中で椋鳥はデルマデルコックスである。椋鳥はそこら中に居る。舎人公園や荒川河川敷で出会う度に心の中で(デルちゃん!)と呼ぶ。
