This charcoal and colored pencil drawing on black paper captures one of the most memorable moments of my childhood: visiting a shrine for the first time of the year and praying for prosperity in the coming year. The detailed design of the kimono was inspired by the beautiful kimonos worn in Japan at this time of year.
