Description of the work:
This work was inspired by the idea of taking a nap in the shade of a beautiful waterside tree with an interesting geologically famous place in the background. This work is based on Joren Falls in Izu City, Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka Prefecture.
Joren Falls is a waterfall that flows down basalt rock with beautiful columnar joints, and is also featured in the lyrics of the famous enka song ``Amagi Goe''. When basaltic lava slowly cools and hardens, its volume becomes slightly smaller, causing cracks to form in the rock at equal intervals, and even laterally. The hexagonal stone that Nap-kun is resting his feet on in the foreground of the illustration is a naturally formed stone.
