ライプニッツは晩年のスピノザを訪れ、世間の批判を恐れて出版を控えていたエチカの原本をせがんで読ませてもらっという。しかし、そこに底無しの深淵を感じ取り、崖っぷちから逃げるように引き返した。微分、積分法を確立したライプニッツが何故モナドに拘ったのか不可解である。とりあえず、モナドを形而上学的、観念的アートとして捉えたい。タイトルはP.K.ディックの「アンドロイドは電気羊の夢を見るか」から盗用した。
